School of Fashion Design (ATS 223)

This course equips fashion designers not only with the skills and techniques of the industry, but also with an understanding of ethics concerning marketing and a biblical perspective of fashion and design. Some topics covered are paint and design, fashion history, sewing, patterns, psychology of fashion, image accessorizing, truth and emotions, marketing and sales techniques, designing a thematic collection, fashion show logistics, and designing and producing a women’s line, a men’s line and a children’s line.
During the internship, we will explore how we can do fashion for the kingdom of God, embrace and grow in our identity as artists, and how we can use fashion to have an impact in the fashion industry.
We will go through the process of creating clothes from designing to making, and we will create pieces and collections that reflect what we believe in and what God puts on our hearts to communicate to the people around us.

Fashion Design Seminar (ATS 125)

We aim to model for fashion designers, stylists, and bloggers how to use fashion to reach out to people in all spheres of society. We also aim to break down structure-based limitations and curriculum barriers. We attempt to make YWAM more open and inclusive for a broader expression of the body of Christ to be able to experience a missional lifestyle through this sphere of influence in society. Our desire is to bring light into the field of fashion.
